In May 1991 a group of 15 European universities met in Bristol (UK) and decided to explore prospects for international collaboration in university continuing education (UCE). During the meeting 10 different countries presented a description of the national picture of continuing education and the group set the objectives they felt Europe needed to achieve. The participants to the seminar found UCE so important in the future of Higher Education that decided to create EUCEN – the European universities continuing education network.
