Arising from the EC Higher Education Expert Forum (F2000) in January 2000 to consider how universities in Europe can develop new educational paths to respond to the rapid changes in European society, EUCEN publishes its “Response to Challenges for European Universities” report. The report intended to show how universities could implement changes and the importance of cooperation.
Taking into account that the implementation of lifelong learning in universities would be one of the biggest challenges for higher education institution, EUCEN recommends a number of points to help their adaptation: to evolve the reachers’ role and mission, to develop a new learning and knowledge legitimisation process, to integrate disciplines and thematic contents, and to innovate the organisational and pedagogical frameworks.
