EUCEN has worked often in the professionalising side of ULLL. Developing up-skilling and re-skilling training is a very important part of ULLL.

In 2017 EUCEN submitted an application to explore HE-Apprenticeships and obtained funding to undertake the ApprEnt project. This project worked with 7 country teams that included a university, an enterprise and an association each. ApprEnt developed a definition for HE-Apprenticeship, an Advocacy Pack with 5 flash-card (one for each of our target audiences: potential apprentices, mentors, HEIs, enterprises and policy makers), a guideline to design Agreement Models, a generic training course for mentors and supervisors, and a set of Policy recommendations. The Policy recommendations identify 10 key areas to address when creating HE-apprenticeship programmes and advice to EU, national and institutional policy makers and to business management. The training course for mentors and supervisors was, in 2019, the only training course available in Europe.
