The BELONG project was presented during the 56th eucen Conference in Cagliari, inviting participants to contribute to ongoing research exploring how higher education institutions can foster more inclusive learning and working environments.

Presented by Francesca Uras, the session introduced the project’s Participatory Action Research phase, which aims to gather the experiences and perspectives of higher education staff on issues of inclusion, diversity, participation and belonging within their institutions.

Participants discussed the importance of creating environments where all learners and staff feel recognised, valued and able to contribute fully to academic life.

The presentation highlighted the collaborative nature of the BELONG project and the role that practitioners, educators and institutional leaders can play in shaping meaningful change through evidence-informed action. Conference participants were encouraged to support the research by completing the staff survey and sharing it within their institutions and professional networks.

The insights collected through the survey will contribute to the development of practical recommendations and resources to support more inclusive higher education systems across Europe.
