On 6th June 2024, Dublin City University (DCU) hosted the third Transnational Workshop of the Democrat project, bringing together local pilot projects (LPPs) from Finland, Spain, Poland, Ireland, and Estonia.

The aim of the workshop was to provide a platform for each local pilot project (LPP) to present their current progress and discuss how they have adapted the general Education for Democracy (EfD) curricula to suit their specific project needs.

During three parallel sessions, each project shared detailed insights into their activities, highlighting innovative approaches and the challenges they faced. This collaborative environment not only facilitated mutual learning and reflections but also strengthened the overall network of the Democrat project. Additionally, the interactive format of the workshop fostered dynamic discussions and valuable feedback, which the LLPs will now integrate into their upcoming national project activities. One significant outcome of the workshop was the emphasis on the need to develop robust methods for assessing democratic competencies. This will be a critical area of focus of the Democrat project to ensure the effective measurement and enhancement of democratic skills and knowledge among teachers and learners.

The third Transnational Workshop was a showcase to the project’s commitment to fostering democratic education and collaboration across Europe. As the Democrat project continues to evolve, the insights gained from these workshops will be instrumental in achieving its overarching goals.
