Food Includes Food Festival Highlights Inclusive Approach to LLL
A recent key highlight of the Food Includes project is the Food Festival in San Sebastián, Spain, hosted by CEBANC on 31 January 2025. The event brought together organizations such as the Red Cross, Caritas, Jatorkin, and Nigerian Divine Women, who prepared and shared traditional dishes from Morocco, Russia, Colombia, Nigeria, and Nicaragua. The festival demonstrated how food can bridge cultures, foster community connections, and enhance learning experiences.
The Food Includes project focuses on fostering adult education by using food as a tool for inclusion and lifelong learning (LLL). Led by Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, this Erasmus+ project aims to break down barriers to education through innovative, food-based teaching methods. The project offers a model for flexible learning pathways that can be applied in a variety of educational contexts. These pathways are designed to be adaptable, allowing learners to progress at their own pace while meeting the specific educational and social needs of their communities. Through the development of a Food as a Seeking Pedagogy Starter Kit and Open Educational Resources (OERs), such as learning modules focused on food-related education, the project provides educators with practical tools to integrate flexible food-based learning into their curricula. These resources will ensure that learning is accessible, adaptable, and responsive to the diverse needs of adult learners.
