eucen invited guest at the Global Lifelong Learning Summit 2024 in Singapore

At the invitation of the Institute for Adult Learning Singapore, eucen‘s President, Pascal Paschoud, participated in the Global Lifelong Learning Summit 2024, held in early October in Singapore. The summit, themed “Human Flourishing in an Age of AI“, featured key discussions on the future of lifelong learning. Highlights of his participation included:

  • A meeting with Singapore’s Minister of Education, Chan Chun Sing, alongside a small group of presenters, for an informal discussion on national and institutional strategies for advancing continuing education. The Minister shared insights into Singapore’s successful efforts in shaping a workforce-oriented continuing education system.
  • Participation in the panel discussion “From Digital Divide to Digital Dividends”. Pascal presented EU initiatives aimed at bridging the digital skills gap, emphasising the vital role universities play. He highlighted the need for a student-centered approach that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), critical thinking, and addresses legal and ethical challenges.
  • A visit to the impressive new campus of the Singapore Institute of Technology, hosted by Prof. May Sok Mui Lim. This visit included exchanges on shared interests such as microcredentials, competency-based education, and the recognition of prior learning.
