On 25 June, eucen led an engaging online session as part of the Include Me+ project, bringing together educators, civil society representatives, and digital media professionals to explore how digital media can become a tool for inclusion, civic participation, and peacebuilding.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Include Me+ defines “mediation in digital media” as the management of digital communication in ways that promote participation from traditionally marginalised groups, without excluding anyone based on language, culture, gender, or background. In line with this definition, the project addresses some of today’s most pressing challenges: disinformation, social fragmentation, exclusion, and declining trust in institutions.
During the event, participants discussed insights from the Mediation in Media Study, spotlighting early findings from the comparative desk research conducted across seven EU countries. Recommendations emerging from the Participatory Action Research, involving students, educators, civil society organisations, and media professionals as co-researchers, were also shared and discussed.
Include Me+ is currently developing a free, open-access training programme with modules and case studies designed to equip students, educators, and media professionals with practical tools for inclusive digital communication. In parallel, the project is compiling a series of Documented Stories (real-life examples and video testimonials) to showcase how media can support civic engagement and inclusion.
The session closed with an inspiring keynote by Dea Kralj (All Digital), who emphasised the importance of inclusive learning ecosystems and spotlighted other EU-funded initiatives advancing digital inclusion across Europe.
