eucen is pleased to announce the official launch of the new MESHE project website, marking an important milestone in strengthening higher education’s role in social, digital, and civic transformation across Europe.
The MESHE platform will serve as a central hub for project updates, resources, and key outputs, providing universities, policymakers, and stakeholders with access to tools and insights that support innovation, inclusion, and lifelong learning.
MESHE aims to foster a strong culture of lifelong learning (LLL) across Europe by promoting a better understanding of the value of micro-credentials and by testing a more unified European education system for their exchange between universities. Through this approach, the project seeks to enhance collaboration among higher education institutions while also supporting quality assurance and recognition of learning across borders.
Although micro-credentials are becoming increasingly available, they remain under-used. Many learners continue to see traditional degrees as the main pathway to career advancement, often overlooking the potential of shorter, flexible learning opportunities. MESHE addresses this challenge by highlighting the role of micro-credentials as an effective way to upskill, improve employability, and support professional development, with university lifelong learning playing a key role in helping learners recognise their practical and career benefits.
